Left-wing Russian activist-artist Nikolay Oleynikov, a, member of the Chto Delat collective, examines sex under "the historical/hysterical conditions of the Putin era." In dialogues with Keti Chukhrov, Oxana Timofeeva, Grey Violet, and Kirill Medvedev (friends who are philosophers, poets, activists, musicians, and often some combination thereof), Oleynikov asks why contemporary Russia has whipped up so much rage against queer and feminist theories and practices, and why questions of sexuality almost never lead to reasonable public debate. Translated into English by Jonathan Brooks Platt. Originally published in Russian in 2013 by the Free Marxist Press, an independent activist publishing house based in Moscow.
