Tom Cull’s debut collection is equal parts zoo, funhouse, and curio cabinet. A mouthy badger tells off a search committee, a family of beavers conspires to commit murder, a celebrity seal slips his cage. In these poems, human and animal spaces overlap, often marking moments of transgression, rebellion, escape, and capture. Home and habitat are flooded with invasive species, cute animal videos, and rising tides.

About the author:

Tom Cull grew up in Huron County and now resides in London, Ontario, where he teaches creative writing and serves as the city’s current Poet Laureate. His chapbook, What the Badger Said was published in 2013; his first full-length collection, Bad Animals was recently published by Insomniac Press. Since 2012, Tom has been the director of Thames River Rally, a grassroots environmental group that he cofounded with his partner Miriam Love and their son, Emmett.
